Storytelling with Data: Free Workshop for DSI Students

This workshop, which is open to all HI and DSBA students, starts with the results of an analysis, and focuses on the last critical step of the data science/analytics process: making an effective and compelling presentation. The workshop is meant to be an introduction to the lifecycle of converting raw analysis to a call to action. 

Topics will include: 

  • Strategies for interpreting the results of data analysis
  • Identifying core concepts and issues in the context of organizational priorities
  • Evaluating visualizations, graphs, charts, and tables to effectively convey the core message
  • Insuring accuracy in data and findings
  • Finding the right “angle” to tell the story
  • Knowing your audience
  • Presentation Tools
  • Identifying appropriate steps/policies/action items in the context of a business case
  • Telling the Story
